Will Moorhouse

I'm a skier based in Leeds. I started skiing in my mid-twenties -- later than most people who end up as passionate about it as I am -- and quickly made up for lost time. Since then I've skied most winters, usually one or two trips to the Alps and a fair amount of time at Snozone in between.

I built this site because I couldn't find ski writing that felt like it was aimed at people like me: someone from the north of England, not flushed with cash, flying out of Leeds Bradford or Manchester, and wanting honest opinions rather than a list of things to buy.

What this site is

Yorkshire Ski Folk is independent. There are no affiliate links. I don't take payment for reviews. The gear I write about is gear I've either owned, used on the hill, or researched thoroughly enough to give a genuine opinion on.

The content covers three things: gear (what to buy and why), destinations (where to go from Yorkshire and what to expect), and dry slopes (keeping sharp between seasons). I also write trip reports when I get back from somewhere worth writing about.

Yorkshire context

Most ski content is written for a London or south-east audience -- which affects everything from departure airport assumptions to price expectations. This site is written with Yorkshire in mind. That means Leeds Bradford, Doncaster Sheffield and Manchester airports. It means being realistic about budget. And it means covering Snozone Leeds properly rather than treating dry slopes as an afterthought.
